Afterwards, we decided to go to downtown St. Pete for lunch and a movie. A new place just opened
"Locale Market". They focus on locally sourced foods.
This place is a food lovers paradise. They had a nice produce section - although this was not a large as I thought it would be.
They did not have a lot of produce. But what they had was just beautiful….
They had a huge fresh pasta bar. They had some packaged pastas as well as the favorites fresh made. Here is a nice pile of linguini waiting to go home with some lucky some one.
For the meat lovers- Dry aged beef. These steaks made my mouth water. However, they would be a little rough on the wallet. I think if I pay that much for a steak, I will let someone else cook it. If it is overcooked, I can send it back :). If I screw it up, I just have to eat it.
They also had wonderful seafood. Karen and Al if you can't wait for Hogfish - they have it here!
And no local meat market in Florida would be complete without alligator sausage - complete with the gator head in the case.
Right around the corner from the gator sausage-Caviar. Now that is what I call something for everyone :)
The bases were well covered with beverages - a great craft beer selection and a very nice wine cellar. They also had some fun local made sodas and a coffee bar.
Sushi rolls made to order-
All kinds of wonderful pastries, custards, tarts,
cheesecake, and panna cotta…..
The place has a little Italian skew - Gelato instead of ice cream. We did have a taste - really good stuff!
They have lots of food to order - soups, salads, prepared entrees and sandwiches. We chose sandwiches for lunch. I had the Roast beef with caramelized onions - tasted like french onion soup on a roll. Catherine had a falafel burger. We both liked our meals.
After lunch we went to the movies and saw "Wild" with Reese Witherspoon. We both gave it the "thumbs up."
Congrats on the condo victory! Sounds like a great day. Alligator head in the case; not sure about that. But the rest looks and sounds great. Really nice pictures
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the library renovation plan!! That new market sure had something for everyone:o))
ReplyDeletefresh hogfish? yum yum....
ReplyDeleteWhat a great market! I'm with you on the steak. We don't get enough practice so it's usually overdone :( Might as well pay someone handsomely to do it right :)
ReplyDeleteWe need to send you to DC and show those congress members how to get things done!
ReplyDeleteWhy don't hogfish have curly tails? ;c)
