Great day in New Orleans-beautiful weather, Live Music and Krewe of Cork parade


Yesterday afternoon, we headed into the quarter to catch some music.  We found a place on Frenchman street that had a really good band.  We enjoyed a couple of local libations and enjoyed some great Jazz.
 We hustled back up towards Jackson Square to catch the Krew of Cork parade.

 As I suspected this was our crowd.  Lots of wine, Lots of fun.  They had several wagons full of wine that guys were pulling.  If you had an offical "goblet" they gave you a pour.


 I managed to get a pour from a woman who had had her goblet filled a few too many times.  I persuaded her that she might feel better if she shared :)



This parade was small and did not have floats.  They did have one marching band from Baxter High School.  The kids did a great job.

We had dinner in the quarter and then walked to the warehouse district to catch a larger parade coming from uptown.  It had several bands, dance groups and floats.  Lots of people out to see their kids in parades.

Now, we have piles of beads and a taste for Mardi Gras.  We are moving to the state park today to meet up with our friends and start our slow jouney down the gulf coast to home.

    we will be staying at the same state park on the way west - we leave Bonita Springs tomorrow for four days at Lake Manatee State Park

    Looks like great times. You aren't staying for the big event? Guess that's more than a week from now. I had no idea they were parading every day for 10 days or more.
